When Clay Sings

In putting together some of the pieces of prehistoric Indian pottery that can be found in the desert hillsides of the West, the author and artist of When Clay Sings have created a picture of the past that sings eloquently and poetically of the Indian way of life in an earlier time.
“Indians who find this pottery today say that everything has its own spirit – even a broken pot,” writes Miss Baylor. “They say that every piece of clay is a piece of someone’s life. They even say it has its own small voice and sings in its own way.”
When Clay Sings is moving evidence that Byrd Baylor and Tom Bahti have been sensitive to the sound of that small voice, and that they have the talent and the desire to help the rest of us to hear it too.
